Hot Yoga comes to Staines.

The heat is on for health enthusiasts in Surrey as we are delighted to announce we will be opening a dedicated, premium, Hot Yoga Studio which will offer Yoga classes in 40 degrees centigrade of heat – a pioneering concept that has transformed the Yoga movement thanks to the benefits that result from exercising in the higher temperatures.

The heat is on for health enthusiasts in Surrey as we are delighted to announce we will be opening a dedicated, premium, hot studio which will offer Yoga classes in 40 degrees centigrade of heat – a pioneering concept that has transformed the Yoga movement thanks to the benefits that result from exercising in the higher temperatures.

Leading the design of the hot studio and instructor training programme will be one of the UK’s leading Hot Yoga teachers, Amanda Free, who was the first instructor to bring this exciting concept to our shores in 1995 after being introduced to it some 12 years earlier in Los Angeles. The concept is very popular in the US. Here’s an overview of what it is

Speaking about the benefits of exercising in the heat, Amanda Free says:

“The breathing techniques we use, combined with stretching in the heat, increases oxygenated blood flow and provides a strong cardio workout. Also, the heat opens up pores and is a great skin cleanser. When I first tried hot Yoga as a teenager, I became immediately hooked, simply because I felt so good after every session.”

Work on the 100 square feet studio is underway and expected to be completed by the end of 2017 with the first hot Yoga sessions scheduled for the New Year.  With the addition of these new classes, The Thames Club will offer members more than 120 classes a week, from hot Yoga to group cycling, from High Intensity Interval Training to Tai Chi.

“We are incredibly excited to be bringing this pioneering concept to our existing members as well as residents and employees in the local vicinity,” says Peter Williams, Managing Director at The Thames Club.

“Amanda is one of the leading experts in hot Yoga and will be personally training our own instructors to deliver these classes, so members will be receiving the very best instruction in this exciting new discipline.”

In addition to the new studio, The Thames Club will be completely re-designing the lounge area, creating a modernised space where members can meet and enjoy a range of healthy food and beverages.

Williams, adds:

“What sets the Thames Club’s hot studio apart  from other boutique hot studio offerings is the extensive range on other complimentary services available. Members can choose between a swim or a gym session, a sauna or a steam room, a group exercise class or an individual Personal Training session. Variety is, they say, the spice of life and there is certainly no lack of choice here at The Thames Club.”

The Thames Club will be offering a range of membership and block booking options.
