62% of the UK are overweight or obese. Fad diets, quick fixes and weight loss miracles are marketed to us day in day out. But the truth is, it’s hard to lose weight and keep it off in a sustainable and healthy way. It is more difficult than people make out and requires a strong mindset, support and education – for the long term! A summer diet is not a sustainable lifestyle change – we need more than this to get healthy, and to stay healthy.
This spring saw the launch of our first Weight Management & Wellbeing Course and we are proud to be supporting sustainable healthy lifestyle changes for those on the course.
We are 36kgs lighter and 75 years younger!
The first 14 participants on our course lost a staggering 36kgs, 12 BMI points, 23% body fat, 11 visceral fat points and 75 years off their metabolic ages!
As well as all those losses, participants gained information, motivation and education around losing weight in a sustainable way that’s good for overall wellbeing.
‘Calorie counting and understanding more about the macros was an important learning point for me’ – Sally-ann
‘The main way it helped was the information on the benefits of more protein in the diet and the link with muscle etc. and the weight training exercises that I never thought would be linked to weight loss’ – Cheryl
‘Having a weekly commitment gave me the motivation to continue with my weight loss… It has really made me focus on energy in and energy out.’ – Jayne.
So, what can you expect in the course?
Expect support, fun, accountability and results.
Become part of a small community of likeminded people and work closely as a group and with your trainer each week. Keep in touch during the weeks with a WhatsApp group to offer support and to share tips and progress.
Freebies: enjoy a Personal Training session, stretch and test your core in a Reformer Pilates Class and relax, unwind and sweat it out in a Hot Yoga class.
What will we cover?
Understand the basics of setting a goal – something realistic and achievable that you can be held accountable for. What exactly is a calorie deficit and how do you get into one? Understand the different macronutrients (did you know that protein requires more energy to break down than fats or carbohydrates and will contribute to fat loss just by digesting it?!).
Each week expect to experience a different type of training and learn why it’s great for fat loss and how to incorporate it into your routine (did you know that resistance training builds muscle, which increases the basic number of calories your body burns each day?)
Expect to cover a variety of topics and learn how and why they influence fat loss. Understand the real importance of hydration, learn what NEAT is and understand how women’s’ health can impact exercise and fat loss (did you know that you’re more susceptible to injury and may struggle with complex movements during the second phase of your cycle?)
We will measure not just your weight, but we’ll use Tanita to measure different aspects of your body composition which can give you a more accurate picture of health than weight alone. Tanita is a medical grade piece of kit which will look at your hydration levels, muscle mass, visceral fat, metabolic age, bone density and fat mass. You’ll be able to take starting measures and see how these have changed after six weeks. If you’re a member of the Club, Tanita is included in your membership and we encourage you to book in regularly every one to two months to continue to monitor changes or to maintain the great results you’ve achieved.
